Our favorite things to do in Door County. We’ve got you covered.

  • Biking.

Our Legacy House is the perfect place for bike enthusiasts to stay and hop on your bike from the property and head out to some of the best biking spots in Door County. Across the street from Our Legacy House is a self-service bike spot with air and tools. Take County Q, just on the north side of downtown, not far from The Ridges to this forested route north, winding past the Mud Lake State Wildlife Area, Moonlight Bay, North Bay, and more, eventually letting out in Ephraim. The entire stretch is about nine miles and has multiple view points for admiring the lake, including the turn off for access to Cana Island. Just one of many fabulous route selections right in the area. Check out other biking options here.

  • Hike. Stroll.

A block from Our Legacy House, you’ll find the Ridges Sanctuary — a 1,600 acre nature preserve and land trust. The Ridges features several miles of networked trails that are easy for the whole family to enjoy. You'll also encounter a historic range light, remnants of early settlement in Door County, and some gorgeous wild flowers when in season. Check it out here.

Door County has so many amazing trails and many beautiful state parks to enjoy. Also, when you head north of the Peninsula, you can hop on a ferry to Washington Island and another ferry to Rock Island, where my great-great-grandmother was born and enjoy some of the best hiking around. Check out other hiking options here.

  • Kayaking. Ziplining. Charter Fishing.

Walk right outside the front door of Our Legacy House and cross the street to visit the folks at Lakeshore Adventures. Tell them we sent you and you’ll get a 10% discount with a group of 10 or more for a kayak tour at one of three locations or a zipline tour in Baileys Harbor. Kayak tours are offered at some great locations that start right across the street — including Cana Island Lighthouse tour, a shipwreck tour, or a tour of Cave Point. They provide transportation. Also, you can charter boat from them for up to 6 people to head out for a day of fishing. Click here to visit their website.

  • Create Some Art.

Perfect for a rainy day or just something to do with all the folks in your group — regardless of age. Head over and see the folks at Hands On Art Studio. Just a few minute drive from Our Legacy House. There are so many great pieces of art that you can create during your Door County vacay. They have a snack bar and also show recent films. Fun for all ages and the perfect thing to do at the end of a long day of activities. Their website is here.
